The project
The tram is an investment in the Gatineau-Ottawa area’s future. It will connect Gatineau’s west end to the Gatineau and Ottawa downtowns, and its circuit will align with the existing major public transit axes. This dedicated, reliable and accessible transit system will meet the transportation needs of residents in Gatineau’s west end for the next 30 to 50 years in a context of population growth, road congestion and the importance of interprovincial exchanges.
Why the tram
In order to address the demographic growth and a system that no longer meets demand, the region needs an effective public transit system that meets residents’ needs for the next 30 to 50 years.
About the tram
Today’s trams are a far cry from those of long ago. They are based on modern, innovative, cutting-edge technology designed to benefit the entire population.
