An integrated project
Because of the interprovincial nature of this project, the Société de transport de l’Outaouais is working closely with its partners: the ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD), the National Capital Commission, Ville de Gatineau and the City of Ottawa.
The project partners
For this project, the Société de transport de l’Outaouais is working closely with its partners: the ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD), the National Capital Commission, Ville de Gatineau and the City of Ottawa. Because of its interprovincial nature, this project at the heart of the nation’s capital calls for integrated planning of mobility and land use on the Quebec and Ontario sides of the Ottawa River.
Funding
On June 27, 2024, Canada and Quebec announced a $163.5 M joint investment for the planning stage of the Gatineau-Ottawa tram project.
The amounts granted by the Government of Quebec, i.e. $98.1 M, and the Government of Canada, i.e. $65.4 M, will be used to conduct upcoming studies on the Quebec side.
Visit the Main stages page to find out more about the technical and environmental studies along the 22 kilometer circuit on the Quebec side.
The federal government has not yet confirmed any investment for studies related to the 2 kilometer circuit of the Ottawa portion of the project.
